Weekly Mix #78

Some of these mixes are better than I thought they were. There are even huge world wide hits on this one!

1. Welcome to the Boomtown by David & David
One hit wonders, sort of. They were both producers in L.A. who followed their in front of the microphone dreams

2. Red Paint by Matt & Kim
Not as good or catchy as Daylight. Brooklyn hipsters, the dream is over.
3.Girl Panic! by Duran Duran
They are back and better than have been since the Reflex! The All You Need Is Now album was produced by Mark Ronson who basically told them  forget everything they'd done the past 15 years and forget all music done in the past 15 years. Solid Gold man!
4.Lies by Thompson Twins
When's this reunion going to happen?

5.Bang, Bang, Bang by Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.
Let's all dance like it's the 80s that never happened.
6. Sleazy by Ke$ha
Sometimes pop is stupid I can't ignore it and I feel ashamed for it. Case in point, this song.
7. She Bop by Cindy Lauper
If you didn't know this song was about girl's playing five on one, you do now. This might be Ms. Lauper's sleaziest song.
8. Nobody's Fault by Aerosmith
Now we will rock! From the Rocks album that indeed rocks it's so damned good that it is right there Toys In The Attic.
9. Take This Waltz by Leonard Cohen
Back down a notch or two or three. Cohen is a strange artist who I can never really get into but can't quite cast off.
10.Too Hurt To Dance by Duffy
The littlest English pop star mopes for us.
11.(Just Like) Starting Over by John Lennon
Our deceased friend gets retro and gives us some good music.
12.Dogs of Lust by The The
Some people love this band/this guy but I just think they're alright. This song from 15 years back is the last song I can recall from The The.
13.I Wanna Be Your Man by The Beatles
Let's all give it up now for Ringo! Singing an drumming Don Henly would never be the same.
14.Move It On Over by Hank Williams
It may sound like a song about dogs but it's not; it's not.

15.Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream) by Roy Orbison
Continuing out trip into old time rock n' roll we listen to one of Roy's lovely tunes that shows what a great voice he had.
16.Louder Than Ever by Cold War Kids
Back to the now! The two songs I know by theses Long Beach guys are pretty good but they don't seem to really go for it.
17.Vampire Money by My Chemical Romance
The band that people get on my back for liking. I don't know, at least they play instruments and the singer can sing.
18.Infinity Guitars by Sleigh Bells
A lot of bands sound like this but this song does blow up so I like it. Fuzzy guitars and chick singer.
19.Finding Something to Do by hellogoodbye
So catchy you'll hate your self
20.Just Friends by Amy Winehouse
Amy and her band got a little ska going on this number. It's not the same since her passing but I din't know that at the time.
21.Only Girl (In the World) by Rihanna
I sound horrible for saying this but when she sings this song it puts her scuffle with Chris Brown in a different light. Crazy!
22.Suspicious Minds by Elvis Peresley
This is the light I'm talking about

Weekly Mix #72

What we have here is 2010 and ll it's sloppiness. We have four artists trying to make come backs and a couple we'll never hear from again. I have tow sort of fake bands on her, weird.
Enjoy!

1. Wild Flower by The Cult
I had just seen the Cult do their Love album live plus  all their hits; it was awesome. It made me go back and feverishly listen to all their songs again and this one from Electric kept getting replayed

2. Jawbreaker by The Dead Weather
More groovy, stoner music
3.Rats In The Cellar by Aerosmith
When you hear guys in their 50s talk about Aerosmith being a very different band in the 70s this is what they're referring to.
4. Fast As I Can by Stone Temple Pilots
This was part of STP's come back album and heavily used for Baseball Tonight's highlight reel on ESPN.
5. Stay With Me by Faces
Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck have never sounded this good again. Maybe I didn't like this 40 year old song until recently but now I love it!
6. The Ghost Who Walks by Karen Elison
The former Mrs. Jack White sings for us
7. Funnel of Love by Wanda Jackson (feat. The Cramps)
She's kind of a legend and she did a song with another kind of legend The Cramps

8. Mr. Orange by Dengue Fever
I have no clue what she's singing about

9. Vietnow by Rage Against The Machine
Funky metal and a head rush; it works!
10.Here We Are Juggernaut by Coheed and Cambria
It's big and rocking but not great
11.Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
One his wonders can be very awesome things
12.It Never Rains In Southern California by Albert Hammond & M. Havelwood
I think Hammond is the father of one of the Strokes. This is a good song.
13.On Meloncholy Hill by Gorillaz
Plastic Beach was a let down of an album but this little number was okay
14.Murmaider by Dethklok
Not a really band but they still have some wicked numbers
15.Let Me Hear You Scream by Ozzy Osbourne
Why is still good that Ozzy puts out music? Because it's melodious hard rock that makes you pump that fist, throw u the devil horns and bang your head!

16.Fresh by Devo
Yes, Devo had a new song and it was one of my favorites of 2010. The managed to sound modern and keep that Devo sound . . . okay maybe they don't sound modern but they do sound good
17.Dare to Be Stupid by "Weird Al" Yankovic
Parody is the sincerest form of flattery. Al does Devo very well and very funny.
18.She Blinded Me with Science by Thomas Dolby
SCIENCE! This concludes the New Wave portion of the mix
19.Oildale (Leave Me Alone) by Korn
It was a good song but it just wasn't the comeback record of the year. Too long had passed since Freak On A Leash.
20.Heroin by Roky Erikson
Covering the Velvet Underground is a ballsy thing. Cult legend Roky Erikson  pulls this one off by speeding it up adding anguish and getting rid of the pretension.

21.Rocket Queen by Guns N' Roses
I've been waiting to use this song for years but there had never been the right place for it. Yes, that's real sex in the breakdown. If there's one G N' R song you can boogie down to it's this one.

Weekly mix #66

This is a 2009 mix with several songs that I never listen to but wanted to represent represent on a modern mix. Sometimes I think that I have to put more emphases on modern, current tunes than better ones in  fear that I may become an old fart. Maybe I just need to dig more deeply into the unknown . . .

1. C'mon Let's Go by Girlschool
I guess women are allowed to be tuff too.
2. Dirty little Rockstar by The Cult
Still making jams after all this time, adjusting to the times well enough.
3. That's My Tune by Morningwood
Some songs drone and drone well, this is one of them
4. My Own Worst Enemy by Lit
This song just gets funnier as the years pass
 5. Porno Star by Buckcherry
Josh and the boys are not subtle by any means. They are a band who needs a scene.
6. My Way by Miss Crazy
A band that wanted the 80s back in all their glam metalness. Sorry guys, you missed the boat.
7. Primary Colours by The Horrors
It's a sweeping  song from band that used to be anything but. It reminds me of 80s music I never heard.
8. Petition The Lord With Prayor by The Doors
You Cannot petition the lord with prayer!
9. United States of Eurasia/Collateral Damage by Muse
Showing their love for Queen and Radiohead full on!
10.Beach Town by Le Loup
It's kind of etherial and kind of hypnotic but mostly it's not much of anything you'd have an urge to hear
11.Fine For Now by Grizzly Bear
Only slightly more friendly than the last song, this tune has some nice harmonies but mainly makes you turn into a drip.
12.Every Rose Has It's Thorn by Poison
There's something about a huge hit ballad that can make unknown indie rock seem totally lame
13.Art isn't Real (City Of Sin) by Deer Tick
Sometimes one discovers a little indie song that is remarkably good and you wonder why nobody else knows about it. I found this song on a Penguin music sampler.
14.Everymorning by Sugar Ray
I liked them better when they just wanted to fly.
15.T.N.T by AC/DC
Yup, snap out of it we're blowing shit up with the greatest thing ever to come out of Australia.
16.Cryin' by Aerosmith
I'm getting soft because after years of denying any like for this song I finally caved.
17.Standing Next To Me by The Last Shadow Puppets
More sixties inspired rock. I feel like I should be riding in a black cab through London , heartbroken, wondering where it all went wrong.
18.Coffin Faftory by The Mumblers
Some boys from Silicon Valley got out there organ and made some music, there should have been a movement around this but that's just me being' wishful.
19.Time Has Come Today by The Chambers Brothers
Are these guys one hit wonders? I think so. It's a good 60s song about change and all that 60s garbage.
20.Use Somebody by Kings of Lyon
This should be the end of the mix but I decided I didn't want to be a total wuss
21. You Could Be Mine by Damone
Worship the power of GN'R even if it through a cover song by a very underrated band.

Weekly Mix #55

New Arrivals! peter Bjorn and John, Amy Winehouse, Cold War Kids, Justin Timberlake, Silversun Pickups and the Horrors! This mix was better than I thought! On this mix I started to put more emphasis on new music rather than a couple new tunes surrounded by oldies, for better or worse I think it works very well here! So go and listen, the Heretix song is hard to find btw.

1. Enter Sandman by Metallica
Before this song Metallica was a speed metal band that terrified all. The black album was released and suddenly they were just a big rock metal band that made more money than ever before.
2. Down by Stone Temple Pilots
This is a good song to have as an alarm in the morning. This may be the last ++ song they did.
3. Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John
PB&J gave whistlers something hot! There's a sweet melancholy in the romance of this Scandinavian band's biggest hit to date. We can welcome them to the mixes too.
4. You Know I'm No Good by Amy Winehouse
From 2007's best album, Amy Winehouse got very real with us in her do wop, soul way.
5. The Chauffeur by Duran Duran
Off one of the great 80s albums, Rio. In live shows, Simon does poetry to this song and whips about a flute from his trousers . . . AWESOME!
6. Sexyback by Justin Timberlake
This song was so huge it even made me want to dance and up until this song I loathed Justin Timberlake and all his mouse buddies.
7. Big Man With A Gun by Nine Inch Nails
Loud, short and nasty
8.Sick, Sick, Sick by Queens of the Stone Age
This song does in fact sound ill
9. Crazy by Patsy Cline
A classic bar room song and heartbroken song
10.You Only Live Once by The Strokes
The New York Boys seemed to loose steam on their third album; it would be five years until their next release.
11.Awake by Letters To Cleo
This song was supposed to be huge for the Boston band; it was supposed to be their big second hit after their song, Here and Now that was on the Melrose Place soundtrack. Never happened for 'em.
12.Sherriff by Heretix
One good Boston band follows the other.
13.Got Me Wrong by Alice In Chains
Let's set the way back machine to 1992 when Alice and Chains came out with their Sap EP.
14.For the Girl by The Fratellis
This song is pleasant
15.Baby, Please Don't Go by Aerosmith
This is from Aerosmith's old rock rhythm and blues album; it was sort of silly as everything sounds too slick.
16.Walk Away by James Gang
Joe Walsh playing guitar and being the man before he got drafted by the Eagles to make them rock.
17.Icky Thump by The White Stripes
Not their best effort but still so good!
18.Hang Me Up to Dry by Cold War kids
Good song by a little known band
19.She Is The New Thing by The Horrors
Organ is back in a creepy Adam's Family rock style
20.Identify by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Critics loved them for a while but for me this album was the only one worth it's balls
21.Common Reactor by Silversun Pickups.
I like this song tons! I liked it much more than their single at the time,  Lazy eye. If Billy Corgan wasn't so insane and full of himself this is what the fourth Smashing Pumpkins album would have sounded like and there would have been great rejoicing instead of a collective, "whateveh" I hope you like reverb!

Weekly Mix Tape #52

What have we here? another mix, we've now completed a year's worth! BOOOSH! This bad boy is all over the map but has some nice links. If you can figure them out then you get a cookie!

1. Living in America by The Sounds
Definitely not a James brown cover. I wish I discovered this band back in the early part of the 00s rather than several years past.
2. Drive by R.E.M.
How do you follow up the biggest album of your career? You release a slow, creepy ballad with strings. This song came out when R.E.M. still mattered.
3. The Passenger by Iggy Pop
I liked the Siouxie Sioux cover more but Iggy's still the king.
4. Good Thing by Fine Young Cannibals
This band got so big in 89 and then broke up. This was a cool Mo Town tribute that resulted in their best tune.
5. Ever Fallen In Love by Nouvelle Vague
The little lounge act covers the Buzzcocks
6. Beetlebum by Blur
Was this song about addiction or making fun of Oasis? I still don't know
7. Help! by The Beatles
The beginning of this song is great and then it wusses down but whatever.
8. Champagne Supernova by Oasis
More Beatles sounds by bands who made it big in the 90s! This song was huge for Oasis, creatig a third ht from What's the Story Morning Glory.
9. Permanent Vacation by Aerosmith
Getting clean for rockers usually results in a crappy product but for Aerosmith it was a rebirth in to millions and millions of dollars.
10.Dudly by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Kind of sounds like a lullaby
11. Bucket by Kings of Leon
This is the same band that blew up on their next album. Whoever produced them next was really ambitious. Anyway this song is little more than a put down song.
12.Wishing Well by Terence Trent D'arby
This song gave whistlers a lot of excitement. D'Arby was supposed to be the next great R&B performer but it was said his ego got in the way.
13.Tusk by Clinic
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who likes this band or has even heard of them. This songs rocks more than most of their music.
14.Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega & DNA
So a DJ took an a capella song and added beats and a few synth hits; it's great.
15.Reptilia by The Strokes
This is a disappointing follow up to the Strokes first Album but it was still alright.
16.I Want You So Hard (Boys Bad News) by Eagles of Death metal
If nothing else it's funny
17.This train Don't stop There Anymore by Elton John
If you told me that I would be a fan of an Elton John song that came out after 1983 I would be skeptical but this song is like something that was dropped by the side of the yellow brick road.

The video is pretty cool too. Justin Timberlake makes a convincing Elton and it speaks volumes to his entertainment savvy

18.Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan
Is this my favorite Dylan song? I guess so.
19.Cross Road Blues by Robert Johnson
Ladies and gentlemen I give you the birth of the blues and a blues legend.
20.Judas Rising by Judas Priest
I am constantly stunned that song came out in 1976; it is so ferocious and huge it could go head to head with anything put out today.
21. Pigs In Zen by Jane's Addiction
What is this song about?  No clue but it has a great part at the end that hip rocker kids used to use as their answering machine's outgoing message.

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 43

Happy Thanksgiving you Jive Turkeys
There are some odd 808s gems dug up and given to you from me but that's because I was searching for songs I used to kind of like. What's strange to me is that some of the new songs Nth Degree and Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt and Chords have an 80s feel.

find these songs and enjoy

1. Beat So Lonely by Charlie Sexton
Later Charlie went on to form the Arch Angels
2. Nth Degree by Morning Wood
Welcome to the mixes Morningwood
3. Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac
This is creepy song; it kind of gets in the skin. IS this the first Fleetwood Mac song to be tossed in here? It might be.
4. Life's What you Make It by Talk Talk
This is the other song released by the band who brought you, It's My Life
5. New Year's Day by U2
This song makes me cold
6. Chords by Madelia
From the "good song you've never heard" department
7. Llorando by Rebeka Del Rio
Featured in the film Mulholland Drive in a very freaky scene
8. And We Danced by The Hooters
As far as I know they have nothing to to do with the restaurant
9. Give me Novacaine by Green Day
I don't know why they spelled incorrectly but they did
10.Evil and a Heathen by Franz Ferdinand
They used to call songs like these, "deep tracks"
11.Got The Time bu Joe Jackson
When you listen to the speed of this song it makes perfect sense that Anthrax covered it.
12.Los Angeles by X
She had to leave Los Angeles but alas she never did
13.The Stand by The Alarm
Some people called them the next U2
14.City Noise by Scarling
More Goth rock!
15.Let the Music Do The talking by Aerosmith
I don't think they were totally clean at this moment as this was from the album right before Permanent Vacation.
16.Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt by We Are Scientists
A song about being young and lusty
17.What Katie Did by The Libertines
British garage band rock
18.You're So Vain by Carly Simon
That sun of a gun, Warren Beatty never felt so loved
19.Plowed by Sponge
Kind of dark and nebulous in meaning
20.Sneakyville by The Lmonheads
This song is apparently all Charles Manson quotes but I can't confirm this
21.Lawyers In Love by Jackson Brown
A great song about the 80s that includes a good howl and witty lyrics

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 27

I think I had recently purchased a Hip-Hop compilation which busted out like crazy on my speakers and influenced my mixes.

1. Helter Skelter by The Beatles
"I've got blisters on my finger!" You know what I'm talking about.
2. By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers
This is the last good song the band ever recorded
3. It Takes Two by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock
When I first heard this song it was ON! I thought it was freaky and super damn cool! It catches your attention with those gasps and shouts; it was too cool to possibly be a huge hit but there it was, awesome.
4. So What'cha Want by The Beastie Boys
This is the first Beastie Boys song I ever liked, everything before it was annoying. Later I grew to appreciate Paul's Boutique
5. Pennyroyal Tea by Nirvana
From the album In Utero which was supposed to sound horrible but really just sounded like the next level of grunge.
6. Get Free by The Vines
I couldn't name another of this band's songs
7. Far Gone And Out by The Jesus & Mary Chain
The pop side of the Scottish duo
8. Pop Song 89 by R.E.M.
This song was on, Green which came out in 88
9. Funkytown by LIpps Inc
Oh, won't you take me down to Funkytown? If there was such a place I have to wonder how much the rent is there; it's gotta' be outrageous!
10.Keep Fishin' by Weezer
Power pop, baby!
11.These Boots Are Made For Walkin' by K.M.F.D.M.
Nancy Sinatra did a version of this song in German which might be why a German industrial band covered it.
12.Young Lust by Aerosmith
The fact that Steven Tyler keeps it in his sneaker makes all the difference.
13.Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy
If you thought you were cool in 1997 this song was rad!
14.Girls On Film by Duran Duran
Duran Duran makes me wish I was a 13 year old girl in 1982
15.Pet Eunuch by Clinic
Showing their less trippy, organ side and rocking out while wearing surgical masks.16.For nancy by Pete Yorn
This song wasn't written for Wynona Ryder but it might as well have
17.There  Is an End by The Greenhornes & Holly Golightly
Retro sound for the cocktail set
18.Jump Around by House Of Pain
White rap! The band should have been from Boston but weren't.
19.A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley
The King may be dead but his songs will kept popping in places like Oceans 11
20.Up The Bracket by The Libertines
Heralded as the English version of The Strokes, they were much sloppier but somehow as exciting.
21 Love Spreads by the Stone Roses
From the much maligned Second Coming Album; it's a departure form the sparse danceable Stone Roses of the first album and filled with bass and rock guitar
22.Who's Gonna' Ride Your Wild Horses (Temple Bar Mix) by U2
This isn't eh album version, it's a more stripped down version makes the song much more ballsy and heartfelt. They took out all the reverb and synth and replaced it with cello and piano.

Clinic: the band

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 26

This one was also done back in 2002. It continues my Aerosmith adoration as well as my discover of that trippy band, Clinic. I first heard them in a Border's book store while on the 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica where Patricia Richardson was being shown the way to a private bathroom. Please make an attempt to listen to new music and enjoy some of these songs.

1. Without Me by Eminem
From Marshal Mathers' third album, I first heard this song in Las Vegas

The bad boys of Boston at their innuendo best

If you are smart you will stay away from Santeria

Don't play with fire and don't mess with the Stones

They do their best Buzzcocks tune and never again do they play like this

Not their best song

The Song that started it all for this band from the Tragic Kingdom

11.California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas
A 60s anthem about getting out of the cold and getting west
12.Walking With Thee by Clinic
Ladies and Gentlemen, Clinic the faceless band from England. One of the best bands to never make a blip in the U.S.
13.Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World
This is a nice little song by a little band
14.Dope Nose by Weezer
He alludes to Welcome to The Jungle . . . Awesome!
15.Barely Legal by The Strokes
Another great song from Is This It?, One of the best albums of the 00s
16.Bedbugs and Ballyhoo by Echo & The Bunnymen
That;s the way the bee bumbles
17.Sick & Tired by Cardigans
I saw them play live and they were great
18.A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T by The Hives
Frenetic!
19.B.O.B. by Outkast
This is Oukasts first voyage into a mix of mine, also my favorite song of theirs, Bomb Over Baghdad
20.Mama Told Me Not To Come by Three Dog Night
This song always makes me giggle
21.Can't Do A thing To Stop Me by Chris Isaak
Mr. Isaak would later become more creepy but not by much
22.Rise by Public Image Ltd.
All the anger in the world through Johnny Rotten in the 70s became this in the 80s

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 19

Weekly Mix time again! This one's got a lot of Diva power behind it so you may feel it's a breath of fresh air or you may want to puke. It's all music so just get over yourself and enjoy the sounds. It's all pretty much mainstream music except that Cornershop version of Norwegian wood.

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 18

This weeks mix is rad! There are a lot of awesome tracks so rock out!

1. We Got the Beat by The Go-Go's
There first single
2. Tough Guy by The Beastie Boys
Sort of rap
3. Jaded by Aerosmith
I thought this song was so great when it came out but it has dwindled in awesomeness since.
4. It's No Good by Depeche Mode
Lounge at it's best

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 17

Let's Rock! At Least at first we will before we settle down into some other elements of pop music. Enjoy the sounds at you leisure. These songs flow pretty well even if it doesn't seem like it. All the songs are available for purchase on iTunes but as per usual my attempt to be awesome and tech savy by creating a link have failed so happy hunting.

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 14

That's right I'm putting forth a bonus mix because these Mixes seem week and uninspired. Maybe I'm wrong and I just can't recall why the mix was so awesome at the time. I think the real issue with this mix is the lack of current music on it for the time I made it; it sounds more like a weird rehash without any real cohesion. The songs aren't bad but . . . I don't know, I've done better. I think I hit a low point in my consumption of music and was getting into songs looked over from before. These mixes may stay this way for a while but we shall see . . . There will be another Mix on Thursday! I dunno the songs are good but the flow . . . she is weird.

1. American Woman by The Guess Who
The original is the best, none of this weird Lenny Kravitz funny business
2. Mama Kin by Guns N' Roses
This cover is actually better than the original Aerosmith version; I'm confused why I didn't put this before "Dream On"
3. Song 2 by Blur
Woo-Hoo!
4. Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
It's all so fuzzy now, this song always reminds me of hangovers
5. Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles
Look at all the lonely people, should have been followed by "The Beautiful People"
6. What I got by by Sublime
This is where we enter the California lazy section of the mix
7. Fly by Sugar Ray
This is where we exit the California lazy section of the mix
8. Electricity by Spiritualized
Critics loved Spiritualized, I hought they sounded good
9. Pizza Cutter by Letters To Cleo
Here's your Boston element
10.Get off Of My Cloud by The Rolling Stones
Groovy song by the Stones
11.Lithium by Nirvana
I recall the most normal people loving this song
12.Rollin' by Limp Bizkit
Hate it!
13.Disposable Teens by Marilyn Manson
This was Marilyn's follow up to the Dope Show
14.The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve
This song makes me sad
15.Nobody Weird Like Me by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Before they were the biggest band n the land they were weird
16.Girl, You''ll Be a Woman Soon by urge Overkill
Urge Overkill . . . Was this a real band?
17.That's Entertainment by The Jam
Yes it is
18.Goldfinger by Ash
Underrated song
19.Today by Smashing Pumpkins
Billy Corgan almost killed himself instead of writing this song, would anybody have remembered who he was if he had?
20.Dream On by Aerosmith
Still haunting after all these years

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 5

There are more awesome tunes on this mix than you should be able to handle so listen with caution. We have many huge hits like "Sweet Emotion", The Beautiful People" and Wonderwall. and a couple lesser known gems like Morphine's "The Night" which was written just before singer and bassist Mark Sandman passed away on to the eternal B-side. Also Izzy Stradlin showing why he was so important to G'n'R with the frantic "Double talin' Jive"
In addition this mix has one of top 5 favorite love songs of all time, "Everlong"; I'll disclose the others at some point. Speaking of Top Fives, "Bedtime Story" is one of my top Five favorite Madonna songs, did you know that?
Lastly I think this ends the Buzzcocks appearances on my mixes.

1. 20th Century Boy by T. Rex
Sometimes I think T. Rex is the coolest band ever but then I listen to their songs and I feel I've been duped. This is one of Marc Bolan and the boys better efforts. It's cool.

2. Ever Fallen In Love by The Buzzcocks
Is this their best song or is it Orgasm Addict? So many bands have taken what the Buzzcocks did in the late 70s and made much more money than they ever did. Green Day
3. Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith
There are good songs, there are great songs and then there are songs that take on a life of their own, transcending everything, this is one of them.

4. Swallowed by Bush
I was never a huge Bush fan as they were just a grunge clone but I really liked this first single from their second album, Razorblade Suitcase.
5. The Night by Morphine
Posthumously released music is always eerie and often sad, this song is no different. A cool Boston band with a singer who once got stabbed in the chest while driving his cab but he didn't die then.
6. I'm A man by The Spencer Davis Group
Groovy British teenagers singing about being a man, brilliant.
7. Everlong by Foo Fighters
One of my ten favorite love songs . . . EVER!
8. Territorial Pissings by Nirvana
When people say Nirvana was punk I guess this is what they were talking about.
9. Rabbit by Lemonheads
Catchy punk songs about wanting to shag. Awesome!
10.Egg Man by The Beastie Boys
This is the rap reworking of their old ass song, Egg Raid on Mojo. It's on the album, Paul's Boutique which critics have a major chubby for but didn't sell as well as License To Ill.
11.You Should Be Dancing by Bee Gees
You want to know about disco? This is a good place to start. It's not as goofball as some of the genre but it definitely fits.

12.Push It by Garbage
"Make the beats go harder" Shirley sounds great on this track. Once Garbage was a band that mattered but then they began to suck it.
13.Natural One by Folk Implosion
Creepiness comes in all forms including this song off The Kids soundtrack.
14.Sleep Now In The Fire by Rage Against The Machine
Maybe they stopped being the only band that mattered by this point but it was the my favorite song off, The Battle for Los Angeles
15.Just by Radiohead
You Do it to yourself
16.Wonderwall by Oasis
Greatness of pop is right here.
17. She Bangs The Drum by Stone Roses
NME said The Stone Roses debut album was the best album ever, maybe they exaggerate but it is a beautiful collection of songs.

18.Words by the Monkees
I'm sure if I was in my twenties in the sixties I would have hated these guys but seeing as I wasn't even born then so I guess that's why I like them.
19.Double Talkin' Jive by Guns N' Roses
Izzy Stradlin' sang this one about the bands early days.
20.Bedtime Story by Madonna
Björk wrote this, can't you tell?

21.The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson
This is the song that put him over the top and not just a one hit wonder with a cover as his most known song. Industrial and crazy Marilyn Manson sings about being angry even though it's not real, nothing he did was.

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 2

Your weekly play list. I don't need to explain myself and the reality of the play list is that the songs sound good together in this particular order. If you're an iTunes type of person I will warn you that not all these titles can be found there, the first song is the perfect example.
Note on this mix: Many of these songs on here are songs that I didn't like when I first heard them, strange. Many seem to have a rock fusion whether it's rock and rap or rock and techno.

ENJOY!

1. Tomorrow Never Knows by The Beatles
I think Noel Gallagher says this is his favorite Beatles song and lets be fair it's a very good song that highly influenced the final song on the mix
2. Bawitdaba by Kid Rock
I like to rock! It was clear at some point in Kid Rock's weird musical career he did too but besides his name it seems like all rap and country hybrid music. I don't know what I'm saying really but I like this jam. It came out when it seemed even rockers were still shying away from being flamboyant and over the top, to me he said he was going for it.

3. Give It Away by Red hot Chili Peppers
Non stop funk machines? Well not quite, they have definitely stopped being funky and this may have actually been the last time they tried. Blood Sugar Sex Magik in many ways made The Chili Peppers a worse band, fame can do that.
4. Don't Bring Me Down By Electric Light Orchestra
Jeff Lynn, producer of the late 80s and rocker of the 70s. A man with an afro and that's the end of what I got to say besides this song is a really good pop song.
5. Nookie by Limp Bizkit
When rap and metal collide you get better examples such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and you get worse ones like Limp Bizkit. they filled the void for those about to rock but couldn't quite get there.
6. Dazzle by Siouxsie & the Banshees
Ahhh, this song is beautiful and gorgeous and utterly goth pop! Souixsie was at her best here before she started to dance a bit too much.

7. Firestarter by The Prodigy
The Prodigy were supposed to be the band that combined techno and rock and take us into the new millennium; it didn't quite work out that way even though they were all over the radio and Mtv. Fat of The Land wasn't a bad album but it was already too late for awesome rock movements. Yes it symbolized getting as far away from Grunge as we could and attempt to get that dirty shotgun barrel taste out of our mouths but it left us wondering what the hell?

8. She's a Rainbow by The Rolling Stones
BAck in the 60s all the big bands gave psychedelia a try, here's one of the Stones better known efforts as well as background music for the iMac when it went into many colors.
9. Baby Did A Bad Bad thing by Chris Isaak
Only Chris Isaak and Prince could pull off a purple suit like he did in his video. I don't know how this song made it into a Stanley Kubrick movie; it may be proof that he really didn't finish it before he passed away.
10. Can't Get Enough Of You Baby by Smash Mouth
Party Music for the last part of the 90s!
11. I'm The One by Van Halen
Party Music for those who weren't into disco in the late 70s
12. Walk On The Wild side by Lou Reed
So we're going to cool it down a bit, we're going to see New York City through Lou Reed's eyes. I wonder if kids feel this song carries any weight any more.

13. Stuck In The Middle With You by Steelers Wheel
Is this pop? Regardless it's place in music had been helped out by it's placement in Reservoir Dogs, during a very bloody ear cutting scene. "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right"
14. Walk This Way by Aerosmith
Aerosmith and Rick Rubin will claim this was the first rap song but obviously that's just hype. The song was great no matter what it is. I still think Toys In The Attic is a great album.
15. Belt by Lemonheads
If one bostan band is good, two are better
16. Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf) by Pixies
And three is beautiful. This slowed down version of the song is great and trippy and sad

17. Rusty Cage by Soundgarden
Picking up the pace again we go to the Pacific Northwest to hear what Soundgarden did on the album that built them a big following before they got humungous! Some will say because the sales weren't as good there was no way the Badmotorfinger album wasn't as good as Superunkown but they would be posers.
18. Bring Tha Noize by Public Enemy and Anthrax
Metal and Rap fusing again! What's going on? I enjoy this version more than the Public Enemy version without Anthrax.
19. Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers
It all comes around, doesn't it? Techno and rock together at last! This is the Chemical Brother's best song and might be the only one anybody besides real fans can name. The video was crazy if i recall with a girl having a bad trip . . . Dig Your Own Hole
