Born Bernard Schwartz in 1925, Mr. Curtis became a Hollywood star in the 1950's. Starting in 1949 he appeared in over 100 films with highlights including
The Defiant Ones, Some Like It Hot and
Sparticus. He never one the Oscar but was wildly popular in his day.
