Nomar Garciaparra Retires

One time Red Sox Great and husband to Mia Hamm, Nomar Garciaparra has officially retired. What can I say that hasn't been said or thought? It's a shame. Those are oddly the first words to come to mind as he was a Boston favorite from the beginning of his career in 1996 when he played on some Red Sox teams that didn't go anywhere only to be traded to the Cubs during the 2004 season. He should have been on that team when they won the World Series; it was a sad echo following the screams and cheers of the victory parade.

The redemption came when he signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox so he could retire in a Sox uniform, I almost wept.
