Weekly Mix Tape Pt 31

This a strange mix but I like it; it doesn't veer too far in any direction and stays the course of solid. I think I made this mix in early 2005.
enjoy

1. 100% by Sonic Youth
Two minutes and thirty seconds of beautiful noise
2. Dirty Little Thing by Velvet Revolver
Scott Weiland really does his thing on this track; I can see him singing this when his voice comes on
3. Hollywood Nights by Bob Seger
That galloping beat, the story, the emoting all make Mr. Seger deserve more modern props
4. Candy Everybody Wants by 10,000 Maniacs
College music goes mainstream; is this a happy song?
5. Pain by Jimmy Eat World
Jimmy Eat World would have been bigger in the 80s as they don't fit our modern ideas of needing to categorize rock bands into sub genres
6. Black Heart by Calexico
Depressing . . .
7. Vertigo by U2
The last good U2 song
8. Ace Of Spades by Motörhead
This is one of the greatest hard rock songs ever and somehow I didn't hear it's first 24 years of public availability.
9. Megalomaniac by Incubus
This is the only Incubus song I can tolerate
10.Magic by Olivia Newton-John
She's straight about it, "We have to believe we are magic, nothing can stand in our way."Olivia's vocals were so seductive on this track I was ready to believe her, roller skates and all
11.Brain Stew by Green Day
I thought for a while this would be Green Day's last song of note but then that American Idiot thing showed up.
12.Callin' Out by Lyrics Born
East Bay style rap; is it better than the Humpty Dance?
13.Fit but You Know It by The Streets
Listen and follow the story; it's funny
14.The Widow by The Mars Volta
Overrated band
15.Slow Hands by Interpol
Sounding like Joy Division and on the top of their game
16.An Honest Mistake by The Bravery
Sounding like New Order and on the top of their game
17.People Who Died by Jim Carroll
Death is funny when it rhymes. R.I.P. Jim
18.The Rat by The Walkmen
For me there was only this song by These guys and then they exploded
19.Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Ladies and gentlemen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This is a great song to put on a Mix CD when you're moving away from your loved one or the other way around
20.Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions
EPIC metal from the 80s; if their is one song you need in your collection by these Germans, this is it.

Weekly Mix Tape Pt 24

Here it is you Weekly mix of songs that fit nicely onto an 80 minute CD. This mix is better than it looks.

1. One Step Beyond by Madness
Great name for a band and one the best openings to a song!
2. Fuel by Metallica
This song should start the Mix or another mix
3. Can U Dig It? by Pop Will Eat Itself
Late 80s techno is so tasty!
4. 19-2000 by Gorillaz
Dorky and fun song
5. Hay Baby by No Doubt
So what if I like this song
6. Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones
The beginning to this song gets me every time, hooked!
7. Chop Suey by System Of A Down
System Of A Down peaked on this song
8. Machinehead by Bush
Back in the day that this rocked it was a sign that nothing much in music was happening
9. Fat Lip by Sum 41
Punk for 1st graders but very funny
10.Agony by The Muffs
More punk for 1st graders
11.The Modern Age by The Strokes
Too many varieties . . .
12.The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
If they never released another song after this I would have been happy. This is from the album Bleed American Which some people though was negative in the wake of 9/11
13.Judy Is A Punk by The Ramones
It broke her parents heart too
14.Hungry Like A Wolf by Duran Duran
A song like this could only be recorded by Duran Duran nobody else could bring the earnestness to it.
15.Sandwiches
by Detroit Grand Pubahs
This song is so weird but so inectious
16.Fever by Madonna
This is dumb dance song

00s Countdown 30-21

This is getting nervous! This is where there will be more people throwing fits and crying than before. Am I right about these songs and their placements? With out a doubt!

30. Somebody Told Me by The Killers
This Las Vegas band scored big with this key board heavy 80s throw back sound.

29. Beautiful by Christina Aguilera
"Don't look at Me", whispers the little blond during her porno phase when she was showing her bare ass to the world; it makes perfect sense to me. "Beautiful" is a song that once you hear it you can't get it out of your head and it makes you feel good about your self. They should print these lyrics and post them in jr. highs across the country.

28. Hay Baby by No Doubt
From one blond to another. This is the tale about being a chick behind stage and seeing just how disgusting boys really are while sipping tea and being bothered by fans. the best part of the song is when the dance hall bt by Bounty Hunter.

27. Time is Running Out by Muse
Relationships can be suffocating and this song illustrates this perfectly with buzzing guitar and anguished vocals.

26. Without Me by Eminem
Ladies and gentlemen the most famous white rapper of all time, Eminem. This song encapsulates the media circus his life had become after selling millions of records and giving up his privacy and any chance to raise his daughter normally. It's serious but funny but serious but an F.U. to just about everybody.

25. Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliott
This song changed the way we refer to sex. Her videos at this point were directed By Hype! and very cutting edge.

24. Get Busy by Sean Paul
Yes! Make me dance you crazy Jamaican dance hall machine! This song takes me to another place in the world of dance music without even asking!

23. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
So catchy! Jimmy Eat world may be worst band name on this list but the song, The Middle is like a great rock pop song from the 80's. If you're curious the video has lots of people in their underwear which pushed the popularity of the song quite a bit.

22. Tick Tick Boom by the Hives
This is the highest ranking song by Swedes on the countdown. I was sold the moment I heard this song; it's the best piece the band has put out and it rocks! Besides having a great sound the band has a great look. They are so cool!

21. Fell In Love With A Girl by The White Stripes
I don't know if this is supposed to be a Buzzcocks tribute but it might as well be. This song was our introduction to possibly the band of the decade or at the rock dude of the decade known as Jack White. He and his wife/sister formed this duet and made great sounds while wearing nothing but black ,white and black; it was a gimmick that worked.
